In 2013-2015 an Ebola epidemic brought large parts of West Africa to its knees. The extremely contagious virus is spread through close contact and destroys entire families and communities. No other country was so affected by the ebola virus as Sierra Leone. Officially, more than 11,000 have died of ebola, but NGO’s estimates the number to be several times higher.
